So it’s with a heavy heart that we’ve made the decision to cut our trip short by 10 days and head home today. This comes with huge financial losses for many non- refundable plans and costs of new tickets to get us home last minute. We are not afraid of the virus and always planned to self quarantine. The decision was made due to the rapidly changing landscape with countries closing borders. We are supposed to cross the border to Bolivia tomorrow. Bolivia has no direct flights to US- we have to transit via Peru and/or Mexico. Peru has now closed all borders to Europeans and has talked about banning Americans. If this happens in next 10 days, which given how quickly all this has transpired, is not out of there realm of possibility, we’d be stuck in Bolivia for an unknown amount of time. I was up all night stressing over this decision. It wasn’t an easy one- I planned this trip for 2 years and we had a lot of nonrefundable plans that I know we will most likely lose our money on. But I’ve seen similar situations playing out for various friends that are stuck overseas. I’m probably over reacting and may regret this last second decision, but the decision is made. I never would have imagined 2 weeks ago I’d be doing this, but these are crazy days. Thanks for following us and stay safe. ... Read more on this dealSee Less
You have had the most amazing trip so far. I have loved your photos and stories. But you are absolutely doing what’s right for you. I just cancelled my Egypt / Sicily trip. It’s rough and now I’m back in tourist infested florida with a crowd of people who don’t mind drinking shoulder to shoulder in the bars. Crazy.
Thanks for all the support my friends! 2 more hours and we’ll be on our way stateside. Our next adventure.....finding toilet paper 😉. You can’t make this stuff up.
So sorry, guys. What an incredible adventure you’ve had in Peru! I have enjoyed following along. I know we are all so anxious to be done with all this and get back to living life! Blessings to you two!
I don’t think you are overreacting. I think it’s a smart decision. I’m sorry this happened. Be safe getting home ♥️♥️
I’m sad, but I think this is a wise decision.
I’m sorry friend! Please be safe!
Oh cuz - I’m so sorry.

Sorry to hear this but I think it was the right decision. Safe travels!
A few Picts of our Day in the Colca Canyon. Twice as deep as the Grand Canyon, 2nd largest in the world. Photos don’t do it justice. High altitude was 15000 feet. One of the few places in the world to see Giant Andean Condor. ... Read more on this dealSee Less
As promised here is how I typically save 31-37% on most hotel rooms. Get ready as it’s a bit complex 1. If the hotel I like is available on hotels.com, I book with them because I love their reward program and they have huge selection and competitive pricing. For every 10 nights you book, you get a free night based on average cost of the 10 paid bookings. Mathematically this works out to a 9% savings. 2. I buy hotels.com gift cards which can be used to book many hotels on their site. I watch deals and buy lots of them when they are 15-20% off. I typically see 15% off once or twice a year and have gotten up to 20% off on Black Friday. Various places will have these deals but I have found deal most often at BJs warehouse. Like a Sam’s Club or Costco but in Ohio. You can buy an online only membership for $10...you don’t need to be in Ohio. They sell in $100 increments and don’t expire. You can combine gift cards on hotels.com website so you don’t have to keep track of tons of cards. I post on this site when I see these deals 3. When I buy the gift cards, I use a cash back portal like eBates. Cashbackmonitor.com will show you the best cash back deals, but I can typically get 2-4% back based on where I buy the gift cards 4. When I buy gift cards, I use a credit card that gives me points/ cash back. I have a credit card that gives me 4% back in grocery and warehouses. 5. When I book my hotel on hotels.com I use a cash back portal for typically 1% back. I’ll get that back despite using a gift card. Math: 9% rewards program15% gift card 4% credit card cash back buying gift card2% cash back portal buying gift card 1% cash back portal booking hotelTotal: 31%. Up to 37% based on portal bonuses and if u find gift cards at 20% off ... Read more on this dealSee Less
Today we rode sand dunes, visited a pisco winery and saw the famous 2000 year old mystery of the Nazca lines. Pre-Incan cultures moved the rocks in the desert to create amazing depictions all over the desert that can only been seen by plane or viewing towers. There are 100s of these all over this desert - some spanning 1200feet long. Tonight, we ride the bus over night into the mountains to the white city of Arequipa ... Read more on this dealSee Less
