Daily Tip: If you flight is delayed over 90 minutes and it is a result of airline issue (mechanical, crew issues, etc) , many airlines will compensate you- but you have to ask (nicely please). On a recent flight back from Las Vegas, our flight was delayed 2 hours due to a plane change causing us to land well after midnight. When we arrived home, we tweeted Southwest privately about the delay and gave them the flight number, ticket confirmation number etc. We asked nicely if there was any good will compensation available. Within hours, they responded that the delay was a mechanical issue and sent us two $150 vouchers ($300 total) . This was especially surprising since we used miles to book the first ticket and the second ticket was free due to our companion pass.
