Day 6: Belgium Beer & Champagne France Tour

Follow our trip and guess how much our whole trip costs – the person who guesses the closest will get a $50 Amazon gift card.

Today we got an early start and headed out to the local market held in Reims on Saturday mornings. Charles scored a nice chicken leg and some olives for breakfast. We then headed south to Hautvillers to a small champagne shop AU36 that did Champagne tastings. They came highly recommended and did a nice comparison of Chardonnay, meunière, and Pinot Noir. We grabbed a fresh croissant and then headed down the street to a little champagne house G.Tribaut that had beautiful views over the Vineyards. We shared a small sample of three of their varietals.

We then headed to the Château Sacy, a simply stunning venue and definitely recommend it if you are ever in this area. The views were jaw-dropping and we enjoyed a couple of glasses of champagne recommended by the sommelier.

We grabbed a quick snack at the largest grocery store I’ve ever seen. They sold baguettes by the dozen and had a jaw dropping cheese selection.

We dashed over to another recommendation called the perching bar. This was a bar built like a treehouse up in the woods that had a view of the vineyards over the top of the trees. They have swings for seats. We didn’t stay long but it was interesting hike up there.

We headed back to our Airbnb and rested a while and had some snacks. Later that evening we headed out for our last night in Reims and grabbed some Indian food for dinner.

That’s another wrap. Tomorrow we move onto another city in Champagne and then on to Troyes.
